Welcome to Nursery

Our Nursery staff are:

Children are eligible to attend nursery the term after their third birthday. Children are admitted to the nursery three times a year: September (Autumn), January (Spring) and April (Summer). Please click on 'Admissions Form new 2023' below to fill in an application form for a nursery place. For application deadlines please see the table below. You can return your completed application form to the school office.

We currently have morning places from 9.00am -12.00pm, afternoon places 12.30-3.30pm and full-time places 9.00m-3.30pm. We also offer extended services 8am-9am and 3.30-6pm (charged separately). Our nursery is open only during term-time (38 weeks a year) so will ideally suit parents with flexible working pattern or working term-time only.

We accept Tax Free Childcare payments and childcare vouchers and can offer you flexibility around the days.

There is no automatic transfer from the Nursery to the Reception classes so you will have to apply to the Hackney Education for a Reception place. The deadline for reception class applications is 15th January 2024. Please ask at the school office for further advice.

2 Year Old Nursery Provisions

From January 2024 Benthal will extend its nursery provision to 2 year olds. To be eligible for 15 hours of free childcare, you should be in receipt of a qualifying benefit such as income support, income-based jobseekers allowance, or your 2 year old must fit into one of the categories of children who have additional needs.

Your child need to turn 2 before January 2024 and you need to apply online by end of December at the latest. If you are interested, please speak to the office staff, who will help you to fill in the application. You can find more information by clicking on the links below:

Observations and Activities

In Early Years, we use Tapestry, an online journal, which staff use to record observations of pupils. It is used to capture children’s learning at any point of the day. It is also a tool that parents can use to share the children’s learning at home.
