Welcome to Reception

Our Reception staff are:

Teachers – Andrea Laux and Asma Begum

Teaching Assistants – Lara Alase and Ranjeet Kaur

In Early Years, we use Tapestry, an online journal, which staff use to record observations of pupils. It is used to capture children’s learning at any point of the day. It is also a tool that parents can use to share the children’s learning at home.

We also have our own Instagram page that we use to showcase some of the lovely activities the pupils do throughout the day. Check us out @benthalearlyyears

- Activities will be sent in a home learning pack and uploaded on Tapestry.
-The work set will follow the timetable arranged for remote learning as well as for the class had they been in school, wherever possible.

Below are some web links that you can use to support your child at home:

Each lesson is ten to fifteen minutes long and available for 24 hours. The children are familiar with the programme as it is used at school every day.

Oxford Owl have made free ebooks available during the duration of school closures so that your child has more to read. If you know, your child’s reading level, download the levelled books for them to read independently.

Nick Cannon, a trained actor, teacher and a storyteller reads well- known stories. Storytime includes books by Tom Percival, Cressida Cowell, David Melling, Jeanne Willis, Judith Kerr, Oliver Jeffers and David Walliams.

A new story is added to their YouTube channel at 2pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week.

White Rose have organised daily ‘lessons’ that flow across the course of the week, with a short explanatory presentation, an independent task and answers for each day.
