Latest news and work from Year 1 Magnolia:
School Closure Information
In the case where a whole class/bubble is isolating, the following will apply:
- There will be live teaching sessions on Zoom and pre-recorded lessons on Tapestry
- Activities will be sent in a home learning pack and uploaded on Tapestry
- The work set will follow the timetable arranged for remote learning as well as for the class had they been in school, wherever possible.
Where possible, it is beneficial for young people to maintain a regular and familiar routine. Benthal Primary School would recommend that each ‘school day’ maintains structure.

There will be daily RWI phonic lessons on the Ruth Miskin website.

Each lesson is ten to fifteen minutes long and available for 24 hours. The children are familiar with the programme as it is used at school every day.

Oxford Owl have made free ebooks available during the duration of school closures so that your child has more to read. If you know, your child’s reading level, download the levelled books for them to read independently.
Audible an audio book service has cancelled the paid subscription and has given children free access to audio books! How amazing!
Nick Cannon, a trained actor, teacher and a storyteller reads well- known stories. Storytime includes books by Tom Percival, Cressida Cowell, David Melling, Jeanne Willis, Judith Kerr, Oliver Jeffers and David Walliams.

A new story is added to their YouTube channel at 2pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week.

White Rose have organised daily ‘lessons’ that flow across the course of the week, with a short explanatory presentation, an independent task and answers for each day.

Our summer term topic for science is plants. We will set activities on Tapestry and ask children to watch some of the BBC Bitesize videos.
Physical Education

Joe Wicks has daily workouts, which children can follow.
