Extracurricular Activities and Clubs

Children have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument in KS2: music tutors visit the school each week to provide tuition for Ukulele (Years 3 & 5) Brass & Saxophone (year 4), Flute, Clarinet, and violin (years 5 & 6).We are developing a school orchestra which will perform at our musical showcase each term; this invites all pupils with musical talent to showcase their full range of abilities. Our Benthal singing group perform regularly and have done so at the Water Music at the Tower of London Event. In year 4 children experience the Apollo Music project and attend a live orchestral performance as well as learn about musical instruments.

Children in year 5 and 6 develop the skills for cycling proficiency through ‘Cycle Confident’ training level 1 & 2 and participate in cycling events throughout the borough. We also participate in a range of local and national initiatives throughout the school year to raise funds for charity and foster partnerships with parents and the local community.

Eco Warriors was set up in September 2019 with the aim of raising awareness about climate change but also to affect change within school. This year we have regularly recycled classroom waste, began food composting in the younger year groups, planted the many trees the Mayor of London sent to schools, taken part in an air quality workshop and designed an anti-idling banner and some of us have given assemblies to both KS1 and KS2. Together with the Forest School project we are looking after our beautiful school grounds and green spaces.
